BIOGRAFIA

Janine Jansen incide in esclusiva Decca.

"Jansen is a completely winning soloist, with consistently lovely sound, a superb technique that is always at the service of the music, and a rare instinct for how and when to build towards climaxes."
– Nigel Simeone, International Record Review, Feb. 2007

Ever since her Concertgebouw debut in 1997, Janine Jansen has been a huge star in her native Holland. Today she is internationally recognised as one of the great violinists – a truly exciting and versatile artist.

Her London debut in November 2002, accompanied by the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy, was quickly followed by invitations with some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo and Sydney Symphony. She has worked with such eminent conductors as Sir Andrew Davies, Mark Elder, Valery Gergiev, Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi, Sakari Oramo, Mikhail Pletnev, and Edo de Waart.

Janine Jansen has an exclusive recording contract with Decca (Universal Music Group) and received great acclaim for her recording of The Four Seasons by Vivaldi: BBC Music Magazine praised the “ravishing sequence of captivating sonorities that grow naturally out of the music rather than being superimposed on it”. Her latest disc, which features the Mendelssohn and Bruch Violin concertos with Riccardo Chailly and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, has already been awarded a golden disc for sales in the Netherlands.

Janine was a BBC New Generation Artist and in July 2003 made her debut at the BBC Proms. In 2005 she was centrepiece of the First Night of the BBC Proms, performing the Mendelssohn Concerto with the BBC Symphony and Sir Roger Norrington live for television on BBC One.

In the 2007/08 season Janine Jansen makes US debuts with New York Philharmonic Orchestra under Maazel and Los Angeles Philharmonic under Edo de Waart, while returning to Cleveland Orchestra and Toronto Symphony. European engagements include performances with London Symphony Orchestra, Dresden Staatskapelle under Daniel Harding, Deutsches Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Radio Filharmonisch Orkest and BBC Philharmonic among others. Further highlights include a major European tour with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Paavo Järvi as well as a tour of Japan with SWR Stuttgart under Sir Roger Norrington.

Janine is a devoted performer of chamber music. She established and curates the annual International Chamber Music Festival in Utrecht, and since 1998 she has been a member of Spectrum Concerts Berlin, an important chamber music series in the Berlin Philharmonie. Her chamber partners include Leif Ove Andsnes, Yuri Bashmet, Mischa Maisky, Julian Rachlin, Kathryn Stott, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Maxim Vengerov. Since the 2006/07 season Janine has been part of the Junge Wilde Series at the Konzerthaus Dortmund.

Janine studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek, Philipp Hirshhorn, and, most recently, with Boris Belkin. In September 2003 she received the Dutch Music Prize from the Ministry of Culture – the highest distinction an artist can receive in The Netherlands. She received the Edison Classic Public Award in 2004 and in 2005, as well as an Echo award for her Vivaldi recording in 2006. Her latest album achieved Gold sales within the first few weeks of its release.

[Always print:] The outstanding instrument being used by Janine Jansen is the violin by Antonio Stradivari, Cremona, 1727, ‘Barrere’ – on extended loan from the Elise Mathilde Fund through intermediation of The Stradivari Society® of Chicago.
