Born in France, PATRICIA PETIBON graduates a Bachelor degree in Musicology before to start vocal studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where she joins both Rachel Yakar and Anne-Marie Rodde’s classes. She gets a first prize in 1995. Noticed by William Christie, she regularly performs with Les Arts Florissants at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, at the Paris Opéra-Bastille, at the Teatro alla Scala Milan, at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, at the London Wigmore Hall.

PATRICIA PETIBON is brought to the public’s notice during the revival of Rameau’s opera: HIPPOLYTHE ET ARICIE opening of the 1996/97 season at the Paris Opera (Garnier) . At the same moment, Strasbourg Opera offers PATRICIA PETIBON her first Blondchen in Mozart’s ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL which has been revived in November 97, and recorded for ERATO. The artist gets a tremendous success for her first Olympia in LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN at the Nancy Opera (January 98) as Norina in DON PASQUALE and at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Orff’s CARMINA BURANA with Charles Dutoit conducting.

During the 1998/99 season PATRICIA PETIBON sings in LA FINTA GIARDINIERA by Mozart at the Montpellier Opera. She sings Sœur Constance in Poulenc’s DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES at the Strasbourg, as well as at the Savonlinna Festival in Finland and at the BBC Proms in London during the Summer 1999. PATRICIA PETIBON sings her first Zerbinetta in ARIADNE AUF NAXOS in Strasbourg during the fall of 1999.

In 1999/ 2000, PATRICIA PETIBON sings her first LAKME, as well as Ophélie in HAMLET for the Toulouse Opera. She sings in the reopening production of ORPHEE at the Théâtre du Châtelet, staged by Bob Wilson and conducted by J.E.Gardiner, in Dresden for DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES and performes ARMIDA by Haydn in Vienna under the baton of Nikolaus Harnoncourt and opposite Cecilia Bartoli (recorded for TELDEC).

PATRICIA PETIBON makes a successful debut at the Vienna State Opera as Olympia in LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN in March 2000, as well as at Theater an der Wien for Sophie in WERTHER in July 2000.

In 2001 and 2002, PATRICIA PETIBON appears in two productions at the Opéra de Paris: LES INDES GALANTES by Rameau and in Haendel’s ARIODANTE revived at the Salzburg Festival and in Dresden (June 2001). She also sings Olympia in Olivier Py’s production of LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN in Geneva, as well as in Nice.
In 2002, she collaborates again with Nikolaus Harnoncourt for Mozart’s SCHAUSPIELDIREKTOR (Ms.Silberklang) in Salzburg.

In the meantime, she made her debuts at the Zürich Opera in a new production of DIE ENTFÜHRUNG (Blondchen) with Franz Welser Möst conducting and sings her first Sophie in DER ROSENKAVALIER with Ivan Fischer conducting at the Lyon Opera.

PATRICIA PETIBON returns at the Paris Opera in the fall of 2003 for LES INDES GALANTES.The artist sings her first Mélisande in PELLEAS ET MELISANDE with Peter Stein at the Lyon Opera House in March 2004 and CLORI, TIRSI E FILENO with the Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchester in Munich. She sings DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES at the Paris Opera in November 2004.

In 2005, she performs PELLEAS ET MELISANDE with the French Opera of New York, LE ROI MALGRE LUI also in New York and with Nikolaus Harnoncourt, she will appear in Vienna at the Theater an der Wien for Giunia in the new production of LUCIO SILLA in May 2005, revived in March 2006. She will also perform under his baton ORLANDO PALATINO by Haydn at the Graz Festival and DIE SCHULDIGKEIT DES ERSTEN GEBOTS by Mozart for the Luzern Festival and the Musikverein in Vienna. She will sing the title role of ZAIDE in Vienna in October 2005, LES NOCES DE FIGARO in Nancy in 2006 and LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN at the Paris Opera-Bastille in 2007.

Patricia Petibon will return at the Vienna State Opera for Sophie in ROSENKAVALIER, and will make her debut at the Teatro Real in Madrid inn Poulenc’s DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES in the fall of 2006.

In 2007, she will singe her first Susanna in NOZZE DI FIGARO and will return to the Grand Théâtre in Geneva for more Olympias in LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN.

She had recorded for EMI-London the part of Sophie in WERTHER opposite Roberto Alagna in the title role, and the part of Maddalena in Caldara’s oratorio LA PASIONE DI GESU with Europe Galante and Fabio Biondi conducting, ARMIDA by Haydn for TELDEC and Mozart’s C-MOLL MESSE for ERATO and a first solo recital (Rameau, Lully, Grandval) for VIRGIN CLASSICS. Miss Petibon records now exclusively for DECCA, her last album recital “FRENCH TOUCH” includes arias by Gounod, Delibes, Offenbach, André Messager and Reynaldo Hahn.
