Nato il 26 Gennaio 1981 a Barquisimeto, in Venezuela, Gustavo Dudamel ha iniziato a suonare il violino quando aveva dieci anni, e successivamente ha cominciato a studiare composizione. Nel 1996 iniziò gli studi di direzione d’orchestra con Rodolfo Saglimbeni e nel corso dello stesso anno fu nominato direttore musicale dell’Amadeus Chamber Orchestra. Nel 1999, ha continuato i suoi studi di direzione d’orchestra con José Antonio Abreu ed è stato nominato direttore della Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela (SBYOV), un ensemble fondato da Abreu che è largamente conosciuto per il suo importante ruolo nel programma di educazione e miglioramento delle vite di decine di migliaia di ragazzi e bambini vittime della povertà in Venezuela. Born on 26 January 1981 in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, Gustavo Dudamel was ten when he took up the violin, and soon was also studying composition. In 1996, he began his conducting studies with Rodolfo Saglimbeni and during the same year was named music director of the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra. In 1999, he continued his conducting studies with José Antonio Abreu and was appointed music director of the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela (SBYOV), an ensemble founded by Abreu that is widely recognized for its role in transforming the lives of tens of thousands of impoverished youths. Dudamel is also in great demand as a guest conductor and has worked with the world’s most renowned orchestras and musicians. He is currently principal conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and music director of the Los Angeles Philhar¬monic and Simón Bolívar Symphony orchestras.
2000 With the SBYOV he undertakes a much-acclaimed tour of Germany. Dudamel is appointed music director of the Youth Orchestra of the Andean Countries and principal conductor of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas

2008 Dudamel and the SBYOV make their debut with a Salzburg Festival residency, return to the Lucerne Festival as part of an extensive tour of Europe, and make their debut Asian tour. Numerous concerts with the Gothenburg Symphony, LA Philharmonic, Radio France Philharmonic and Philhar¬monia. In June he makes his first appearance with the Berlin Philharmonic at the Waldbühne. Puccini’s La Bohème at Berlin’s Staatsoper and La Scala. Releases: a highly acclaimed compilation of Latin-American showpieces, entitled Fiesta, recorded live in Caracas with the SBYOV; Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique with the LA Philharmonic is available for download only. The Promise of Music, a full-length documentary film about Dudamel and the SBYOV, is issued on DVD. GUSTAVO DUDAMEL E DANIIL TRIFONOV PREMIATI CON L'ABBIATI DEL DISCO 2021
Sabato 25 settembre a Cremona Musica si è svolta la cerimonia di premiazione del III Premio Abbiati del Disco promosso dell'Associazione Nazionale Critici Musicali presieduta da Angelo Foletto. Sono due registrazioni, entrambe Deutsche Grammophon, ad essere state insignite del prestigioso riconoscimento: l’integrale delle Sinfonie di Charles Ives con la Los Angeles Philharmonic diretta da Gustavo Dudamel, Silver Age di Daniil Trifonov con la Mariinsky Orchestra diretta Valery Gergiev. Premiata anche la registrazione delle Sonate per clarinetto e pianoforte di Brahms con Jörg Widmann e Andras Schiff realizzata da ECM, etichetta distribuita digitalmente in Italia da Universal Music.

Barenboim e Dudamel
Due giganti dell'interpretazione mondiale in una splendida registrazione dal vivo realizzata alla Berliner Philharmonie nel settembre 2014. La "magica coppia" ha entusiasmato critica e pubblico con un'esecuzione memorabile dove la precisione e l'energia di Barenboim si è perfettamente fusa con il vulcanico temperamento di Dudamel. Dudamel in Italia ad Agosto
Esce a settembre il doppio cd che vede Dudamel e Barenboim impegnati nei Concerti per pianoforte n. 1 e 2 di Brahms. Nel mese di agosto Gustavo Dudamel sarà protagonista al Teatro alla Scala di Milano come direttore de La Bohème, con la regia di Franco Zeffirelli e Vittorio Grigolo nei panni di Rodolfo. Gustavo Dudamel e la Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra ottengono il disco d'oro per le Sinfonie n. 5 e n. 7 di Beethoven e il doppio disco di platino per "Fiesta". Il prossimo disco Deutsche Grammophon di Gustavo Dudamel sarà un'incisione con i leggendari Berliner Philharmoniker e presenterà una selezione eccezionale di opere di Richard Strauss: Also sprach Zarathustra, Don Juan e Till Eulenspiegel.

Gustavo Dudamel dirige Wagner all'Auditorium Parco della Musica
Dopo 5 anni di assenza, questa sera Dudamel torna a dirigere all'Accademia di Santa Cecilia a Roma. Il programma prevede l' Idillio di Sigfrido di Wagner, la Sinfonia n.96 "Il Miracolo" di Haydn e la Sinfonia n.3 "Renana" di Schumann. A settembre uscirà per Deutsche Grammophon il nuovo album del direttore venezuelano “Richard Strauss: Also Sprach Zarathustra”, con i leggendari Berliner Philharmoniker.

GUSTAVO DUDAMEL DIRIGE MAHLER
E’ con la Sinfonia n. 9 di Mahler che Gustavo Dudamel pubblica il suo primo CD assieme alla Los Angeles Philarmonic, di cui è direttore stabile dal 2009. Il disco è un’entusiasmante registrazione dal vivo realizzata presso la Disney Concert Hall e rappresenta un ulteriore passo del percorso dedicato a Mahler del talentuoso direttore venezuelano. Già lo scorso anno, infatti, Dudamel e la LA Philarmonic non avevano mancato di presentare un omaggio a Mahler con un video DVD sulla Sinfonia n. 8 live da Caracas. Parallelamente al progetto beethoveniano – da ricordare la sua recente apparizione a “Che tempo che fa” per la presentazione dell’Eroica – Gustavo Dudamel presenta quindi questa brillante registrazione, in uscita il 29 gennaio prossimo per Deutsche Grammophon, che va a suggellare l’unione tra il direttore venezuelano e l’orchestra a cui è legato con successo da diversi anni. Il celebre direttore d'orchestra venezuelano Gustavo Dudamel, che in questi giorni sta dirigendo il Rigoletto al Teatro alla Scala di Milano, continua l'escalation di successi e riconoscimenti. Musical America gli ha conferito in questi gg il premio del 2013 "Musicista dell'anno", che gli sarà consegnato il 6 Dicembre nella storica cerimonia al Lincoln Center, La celebre rivista ha premiato dagli anni '60 tra gli altri Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Martha Argerich, Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez, Placido Domingo, Elina Garanca, Vladimir Horowitz, Herbert von Karajan e tanti altri. Gustavo Dudamel ha diretto ieri la Filarmonica della Scala che accompagnava Daniel Barenboim al pianoforte. Il concerto fa parte dell'omaggio per i 70 anni del direttore e pianista, che vede avvicendarsi sul palco della Scala Harding, Dudamel e Abbado. "Direttore della Los Angeles Philharmonic Dudamel e' la personificazione del "Maestro del terzo millennio": dinamico, media-friendly e, soprattutto giovane e affascinante", cosi' L'Espresso descrive il giovane talento il cui nuovo disco, L'eroica di Beethoven,uscira' presto nei negozi. Due Grammy a Decca e Deutsche Grammophon
Gustavo Dudamel alla guida della Los Angeles Philharmonic si è aggiudicato il Grammy per la miglior performance orchestrale. Il repertorio eseguito è la Sinfonia n. 4 di Brahms. Il giovane direttore venezuelano non perde occasione per dimostrare il suo straordinario talento, consolidato anche con questo importante premio. Vince il Grammy della migliore colonna sonora per i visual media The King's Speech di Alexandre Desplat. Un film intenso ricco di pathos e di senso di rivincita che il celebre compositore ha saputo accompagnare in maniera delicata e raffinata. Imperdibile la melodia The King's speech, intima e complessa allo stesso tempo.

Estate super per Gustavo Dudamel
Settimana incentrata su Dudamel per la celebre Classic FM inglese: dal 5 al 9 settembre sarà tutto dedicato a lui il programma “Full Works Concert”. Saranno presentate le quattro sinfonie di Gustavo Dudamel della nuova registrazione di Goteborg, ma anche brani dai CD precedenti, come quello shakespeariano e quelli dedicati Beethoven, Stravinsky e Tchaikovsky. Gustavo Dudamel ha da recentemento ottenuto uno spettacolare trionfo alle BBC londinesi, a Salisburgo e Istanbul. Il numero di agosto di Gramophone ha dedicato la copertina al giovane direttore venezuelano per celebrare l’uscita del suo primo album Deutsche Grammophon con la grande orchestra nazionale svedese di cui è direttore musicale dal 2006. Gustavo Dudamel torna su etichetta gialla con una bellissima serie di registrazioni dal vivo effettuate nel 2006. Il repertorio spazia da Bruckner a Sibelius a Nielsen. Proprio nello stesso anno il celebre direttore d'orchestra venezuelano è stato nominato direttore musicale della Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.

Questa sera Gustavo Dudamel dirige la prima della Carmen alla Scala.
Questa sera alla Scala di Milano avrà luogo la tanto attesa prima della Carmen di Bizet, sotto la direzione del Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. Dopo l’esecuzione in concerto di qualche mese alla Hollywood Bowl di Los Angeles, in cui “il 29enne direttore ha fatto capire che Carmen l’aveva in pugno. Senza timori reverenziali, dubbi stilistici né indugi nel farla sentire pienamente sua” (Angelo Folletto – la Repubblica), quella di questa sera puo’ a tutti gli effetti essere considerata una “seconda prima”. Nel cast, molto attesa la georgiana Anita Rachvelishvili, che proprio nel ruolo di Carmen aveva stupito il pubblico presente lo scorso Sant’Ambrogio, nel corso dell’inaugurazione della stagione della Scala. Rite, il CD di Dudamel, Disco del Mese per Classic Voice
Ottima recensione a firma del critico Giancarlo Cerisola sull'ultima fatica discografica di Gustavo Dudamel e dell'Orchestra Giovanile Simon Bolivar.Il recensore definisce apertamente questa registrazione una delle più belle edizioni discografiche in assoluto, soffermandosi poi lungamente sull'interessante coupling costituito da La noches de Los Mayas del compositore latinoamericano Revueltas.
