MOTOWN 50 - IERI, OGGI, PER SEMPRE

Il 28 novembre è il giorno della pubblicazione di Motown 50 ma anche il compleanno di Barry Gordy, il fondatore della leggendaria etichetta di Detroit, Motown!
A partire dal prossimo inverno e per tutto il 2009 Universal Music celebrerà il
50° anniversario della Motown, la leggendaria etichetta americana, vera e propria icona della musica mondiale.
Il sound della Motown si diffonde in USA negli anni ’60 affermandosi presto in tutto il mondo, un suono unico che dura inalterato fino ad oggi. Oltre 180 canzoni al primo posto in classifica rappresentano il culmine degli innumerevoli successi della Motown, che continuano ad essere programmati e riproposti nella pubblicità, nel cinema e in TV. Inoltre i più importanti artisti di musica R&B e anche Pop, sono stati e sono tuttora influenzati dall'inconfondibile sound della Motown.
La Motown non rappresenta tuttavia solo una proposta musicale, ma è anche il risultato del duro lavoro di artisti e persone comuni che hanno superato numerosi ostacoli per raggiungere il successo. La Motown fu fondata il 12 gennaio 1959 da Berry Gordy, un giovane afro- americano che, con determinazione e con l’unico supporto economico della sua famiglia, non solo ha forgiato nuove basi per l'orgoglio e le radici culturali delle minoranze afro-americane di quegli anni, ma ha reso il sound della Motown un fenomeno adorato da milioni di persone.

Per onorare al meglio i 50 anni della Motown, Universal Music riproporrà i dischi storici e fondamentali dell'etichetta, anche in nuove versioni inedite, pianificando nuove pubblicazioni nel corso di tutto il 2009.
Motown 50 è una raccolta di tre CD con i grandi successi degli artisti storici dell’etichetta: Jackson 5, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Temptations, Diana Ross, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, e molti altri.
